Why do YOU carry? |

I carry for several reasons 1. My life and the life of my family is worth more to me than the life of some scum sucker that wants what I have because they are
too dumb, too uneducated or to lazy to get it the way I did.
2. I have been robbed at gun point before and fortunate for me that all the thug wanted was my money. 3. Police resond to crimes committed, very seldom do they respond to crimes in progress, hence, I am responsible for my own safety , I cannot depend on the police to protect me. 4. I have a God given right to defend my life, no matter what some politician says. |

........'Cause my 5 yo daughters running skills don't compare favorably with that of an armed thug....... and I can't leave her behind.
......... 'cause the whole cop is too heavy. .......... 'cause I worked too damned hard for what I have, and I ain't handin' it over because some lowlife said "Gimmee".
.....Clingin' to my guns over here, Boss.......

Because I dont want to be featured on the news as another number :robbed, beaten, or worse killed.
Because my family means the world to me and I dont have a personal police officer with me 24 hrs a day. And last as a joke my gun matches my shoes lol!
If guns cause crime mine must be defective!!!!

Excellent question... I struggle with it myself.
1. I've been in some situations where I've been lucky enough to walk away with non-fatal injuries. 2. I keep odd hours. Frequently I shop in the evenings or very early in the morning. 3. It makes some of my job fuctions easier. In a defensive situation, you need to bring a level of violence that is so unbelievable that the bad guy sh!ts himself and freezes within the first few seconds of the encounter. A sure-fire way to tilt the odds in your favor is to carry a firearm AND train diligently on how to use it. Other than that, you are at the mercy of your gut insticts and your tactical awareness. Honestly, I don't enjoy carrying. I like shooting, I enjoy guns and hunting. I enjoy training and teaching. That said, firearms are the ultimate equalizer and have the ability to drastically change the outcome of an encounter in a very short period of time. That is why I carry a firearm. Not for a feeling of comfort or safety. |

1. It is a violent world and there are violent people out there with no morals who have no qualms about harming someone else. They will not harm me or those I
care for.
2. There has never been a cop around when I needed one. And having watched several of them shoot, I am not sure that I want one around when the bullets start to fly. 3. Defending myself is MY responsibility. That is why it is called SELF DEFENSE. I don't believe in the concept of paying someone else to keep me safe. |

My responses are similar to others:
* the safety of me and my family is up to us, not others; * the world is more dangerous every day, and given the economic realities we are facing, it isn't going to get better; * because I can; |

*self defense - same as before, except now I'm more likely to unexpectedly meet up with someone that I've met on the job, someone like a banger or a
thug that has promised to find me and kill me and my family. Since I'm neither white, black, or hispanic, I'm just a little bit more identifiable.
*because it's quite impossible for the police to be everywhere all the time due to all the idiots who tie up police resources by dialing 911 for stupid crap like they're mad at their kid because he won't get a hair cut, or they want their neighbor arrested because his headlights shine in their bedroom window when he comes home from work in the morning, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,. *Von Maur - nuff said. |

Ditto on the Von Maur situation.
Due to my feisty nature, I simply will not go down without a fight. If some snotnosed punk who's mad at the world 'cause his Obama check is late or the Wii blew a rod or he's out of weed decides to shoot up a place, well, I want to ensure that the snotnosed punk gets his 15 minutes of fame while dealing with incoming fire. Maybe the next sniveling snotnosed punk will decide to stay home as a result.
