Hubby shot her. Hubby was a parole officer. Hubby was an "only one."

That's a reference to the DEA agent who shot
himself. I'm sure you're aware there are many people who think that LEO's are the "only ones" who should keep and bear arms.
The War On Guns blog has fun with the "only ones" comment. Not sure "has fun" is the correct term, but check it out and make your own decision.

Oh I see, it's a cop-hating anti police blog. So I take it that "only ones" is just another derogatory term used by cop haters and a regular term
by some of the anti gunners.

Rowell-
I don't hate cops........... but I positively despise statists. Law Enforcement Officers who think they are the only ones who should have firearms are statists of the worst stripe. If the shoe fits....... if not, then no worries.

just checked out the oathkeepers.org site! Speaking purely from a civilian standpoint, I am really thankful that there are LEO's and military folks out
there who are communicating and reaffirming their oath to the constitution!! No one knows what the future holds but its good to know that there are people out
there that feel like many civilians!!

If the shoe fits....... if not, then no worries. Sure, there may be some cops who are "only ones", but they're vastly outnumbered by those who believe in the 2A. Ever been to a Law Enforcement Forum? Here's a very large one: Officer.com and a thread about this very topic http://forums.officer.com/showthread.php?t=73431 |

Unless you are a Military Policeman, you ARE in fact a "civilian", albeit one with police powers. Me thinks you need to brush up on your Peel: http://thelawdogfiles.blogspot.com/2008/04/police-are-public-and-public-are-police.html As for me being a mall ninja..... no worries there.

There's swaggering on both sides of the fence and I think we all know that generalizing about the "other side" is foolish.
Speaking for myself, I have profound respect for the men and women who serve as LEO's. It's a thankless job. I don't see how they do it. I can't believe the amount of patience it takes to be a LEO. The CCW debate got ugly here locally in Columbus and I'm telling ya right now, some of the ugliest, meanest, nastiest things tossed my way were uttered by LEO's. Do I let those individuals color my view of every LEO? NO! But I tell ya, those "gentlemen" were perfectly content with painting all private citizens with the same broad brush. I feel bad for them frankly. They are very much of the "only one" mindset. They reflect badly on their dept IMHO. My "only ones" comment is derived strictly from the anti-gunners who constantly tell us that only the military and the police should have firearms. From a historical standpoint, that's social suicide but beyond that, no one's perfect and that includes the members of the military and the civilian police forces. I see nothing there that makes them genetically superior. The overwhelming majority of gunowners in this country are law abiding folk who aren't a problem but unfortunately, our enemies desperately want to lump us all into one bad guy basket. I meant no offense to anyone but the anti-gun crowd, but obviously I'm tired of being stereotyped. My profound apologies to those who I may have offended. (except the anti-gun crowd. Take your sad cynicism and pound sand.) I have invested many thousands of my own $$$'s in acquiring training in the defensive use of firearms. I have made the effort to do this right and do it sensibly. I am not the problem. I resent anyone who implies that I am. Hopefully I have expressed my views adequately here so all understand where I'm coming from.

I'm feeling warm and fuzzy from all the love, but alas, I don't want to take away from the original intent of this post (nor subsequent discussion it
has created).
