Police are searching for three men who robbed two teenage girls at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon.

The girls were sitting in a car near 29th and Q streets at about 3 p.m., Tuesday, Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs said. The teens, ages 16 and 17, were approached by three men. One of the men displayed a handgun, Beggs said.

They took the car keys, a purse and an undisclosed amount of money and ran away. Beggs said police searched the area and located the set of car keys nearby. A police dog following a scent alerted officers to a black hooded sweatshirt with a skull on it that one of the men apparently discarded following the robbery, Beggs said.

Police did not release descriptions of the men Tuesday. They continued to search for the suspects Tuesday evening. Neither of the teenagers were physically harmed.
