Hoping for no rain as our south range had a bunch of dirt work done and now there is no grass!!! Any rain in the day before and that range won't work. Yes all brands of guns welcome. http://rockyourglock.tripod.com This is a great competition for those who are just starting (never competed before) all the way up to Master class shooters. No holsters, no shooting on the move, no complicated inch thick rule book. Just a fun safe pistol match. After the match this afternoon, once the ranges are cleaned and put away.... And the scores have been calculated..... We will do the raffle drawing for the brand new XDM Package. (Don't need to be present to win) Tickets are only $5 each. Like you, I have not shot in any kind of competition and am seriously thinking about attending. Could be a lot of fun and very humbling....

Posts: 63 (07/07/09 18:08:28) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	The Rock-Your-Glock matches are a ton of fun --- and a really good introduction to more action-oriented competition shooting. You don't have to worry about movement, drawing from a holster, or reloading in the middle of a string, but with multiple targets at different distances, including reactive targets, all on the clock, it really is very different from bullseye shooting. Hint for those trying this for the first time: blasting through it at speed simply earns you lots of penalty second unless you can be accurate at speed. Shoot as fast as you can get center hits. Anything not a center hit gets you penalty seconds---and misses add 10 seconds per occurrence. You don't get to make up any shots on paper, so make sure you get good hits. You don't need a Glock for this--any centerfire handgun will do. People even bring out those weird wheelgun-things to shoot with. A couple of months ago I made a video of one of the RYG matches, and added some commentary for people who perhaps had never seen one before. If you are planning on coming to a match for the first time, you might think about wandering over to YouTube and watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIwXn87Z9nE It isn't a USPSA match---but it is a good introduction to non-bullseye pistol competitions. (Like several people, a RYG match is what got me started on the road to trying out USPSA shooting.) Lots of fun. If you come by, make sure to introduce yourself to the RO on the "M" stage---that'll be me.
