Office of the Attorney General
Attn. Attorney General Jon Bruning
2115 State Capitol
Lincoln, NE 68509
Dear Jon,
This letter is in regards to the recent passage of LB 430; improvements to the concealed handgun permit law. As you know, this allows you to grant reciprocity to legally carry a concealed handgun to citizens of other states that hold a concealed handgun permit. To my knowledge there are currently 16 states that have granted Nebraska residents with a Nebraska concealed handgun permit the right to legally carry concealed in their states (www.handgunlaw.us). Those states are the following:
Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, South Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Vermont, and Alaska
I would respectfully request that your office move expeditiously to grant recognition to the aforementioned states that graciously recognized our permit prior to LB 430 without demanding reciprocity. It would then be my hope that Nebraska would be able to negotiate in a timely manner said reciprocity with other states who issue their citizens concealed handgun permits. Thank you in advance for your attention to this important issue. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Finally, thank you for your continued and outstanding service to the citizens of Nebraska.
Best Regards,
XXXXXXXXXX
