Illegal Alien Amnesty. |
Lead | |
|
I would like to raise this issue, and say that amnesty should never happen again. It has happened in the past (Carter,Reagan) and it was a mistake. We are a
country of laws...we should not make exceptions. If we decide to give amnesty...whether it is Carter giving it to draft dodgers or this, then we should give
amnesty to all law breakers. Am I wrong ? Please...let me know your thoughts on this topic. Thank you for your input.

I think you are correct, sir. I have given this a lot of thought.... either we are a country of laws, where the laws are respected by all and enforeced
equally, or we are a failed state, and don't know it yet.

I couldn't agree more. Letting some towns "OPT OUT" of the ccw law was in effect "amnesty" for them. Look at all the problems that it
has caused. If the law had been applied the same for all, there would have been no problem!

If the current administration (as well as the past) have their way, we will have a "world government" and the North American Union so it wont be an
issue to them.
It is a slap in the face to all of the immigrants who came here and became citizens the right way. |

They should advertise that they can apply for the amnesty program than it would be simpler to round them up and drop them off on alcatraz see if they make it
back from there.

For the sake of argument, suppose there was a young man from another country who came illegally , because after multiple attempts to get a work visa, he became
discouraged and decided to sneak in. He sincerely wants to become an American citizen so to minimize the risk of deportation so he works and pays his taxes,
contributes to his community, and stays under the radar. He sincerely wants to become an American citizen and start his own construction company.
Should there not be a path to citizenship for those that want to become citizens, have not participated in the government welfare programs, have not been involved in criminal activities, and are raising their children as American citizens? Diplomacy never works in a gunfight.

I fully support legalized immigration, but can not support granting amnesty for those who came illegally- regardless of why. What is the incentive to follow
the law if you know that in time you will be able to gain full citizenship if you can lay low and not cause a problem? I am involved in the agricultural sector
and fully understand that we run the risk of increased costs for producers and possibly increased food prices over time as the food processing chain can't
rely on their present labor supply. But what is the cost to our society today in terms of social programs, education challenges, health care, wages..... There
has to be a value to being a citizen and becoming a citizen lawfully.

I'm with Roper. If they can't follow the law to start with, what kind of citizen are they going to be?
As for LEGAL Immigration, that needs to be made easier (though the anchor baby concept is a problem.....).

I am with Roper as well.
They should not be able to choose what laws they want to obey.

Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal | ||
|
Here is an example of why hiring illegal aliens is not economically productive.
You have 2 families..."Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal".
Both families have 2 parents, 2 children.
"Joe Legal" Works in construction, has a Social Security Number, and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted...
"Jose Illegal" Also works in construction, has "NO" Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".
Joe Legal...$25.00 per hour x 40 hours, $1000.00 per week, $52,000 per year, now take 30% away for state federal tax,
Joe Legal now has $31,231.00
Jose Illegal...$15.00 per hour x 40 hours, $600.00 per week, $31,200.00 per year,
Jose Illegal pays no taxes...
Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00
Joe Legal pays Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage, $1000.00 per month $12,000.00 per year,
Joe Legal now has $19,231.00
Jose Illegal has full Medical and Dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year,
Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00
Joe Legal makes too much money is not eligible for Food Stamps or welfare.
Joe Legal pays for food, $1,000.00 per month, $12,000.00 per year,
Joe Legal now has $7,231.00
Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for Food Stamps and Welfare,
Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00
Joe Legal pays rent of $1,000.00 per month, $12,000.00 per year,
Joe Legal is now in the hole, minus (-) $4,769.00
Jose Illegal receives a $500 per month Federal rent subsidy.
Jose Illegal pays rent $500.00 per month, $6,000.00 per year,
Jose Illegal still has $25,200.00
Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.
Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school.
Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches.
Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch.
Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program.
Joe Legal's children go home.
Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same Police and Fire Services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

As for anchor babies, that is a total misinterpretation of the law. Applied strictly as written, the anchor baby does not exist as long as the parent is under
authority of another sovereign nation. I agree illegal is illegal. In fact, having moved from a part of the country where illegals make up a much higher
percentage of the population than in Huskerland, it is past illegal to an invasion. I fear it is the beginning of a slippery slope the government will use to
try to forfiet our sovereignty in order to form a united american states cluster@#$^.

roper wrote: I worked with a poulty processing plant that was raided and lost 700 workers in one day. It took them 3 weeks, and another .25 per hour but they replaced all of them with legal workers. I think American greed perpetuates the problem. In the mean time, because of the way the illegals were living, 16 people in a 2 bedroom house and no concept of how a sewer system worked, the infrastructure in the small town where most of them stayed was in shambles. They estimated it was going to cost the town of 125 people, after the illegals left, upwards of $4 million dollars to repair things. Those issues are often forgotten in the discussion. Diplomacy never works in a gunfight.

I agree that a major part of the problem are employers who actively and knowingly employ illegals. At the same time, I also understand that the cost of running
a business is only getting higher due to regulation and competition from countries that don't have the same regulatory overhead that we have. It can become
the proverbial chicken or the egg arguement - but in the end, I really feel that illegal immigration costs us more than we benefit.
I am not a protectionist as we desparately need our export markets to have a viable economy. That being said, we have to find a better way to be competitive than to hire illegals in order to "save" money. Flat tax vs all of the punitive taxes we have today, less government intervention, end our welfare state as we know it but give a hand to those who really need help and are willing to help themselves, have criminals (white collar especially) do the perp walk and shut down illegal immigration. Simply isn't it... That's my two cents worth! |

www.alipac.us , also www.numbersusa.com . Both of these sites deal with fair and legal immigration.
Please, at your leasure visit them. I have belonged to both of them for about three years. Immigration to the USA should not be about currying favors from any special interest group like La Raza ( the race). Both DEMS and REPUBS have sought money from this polictical group. The honorable Sonia Sotomayor belongs to this group. That in itself should dis-qualify her, but we are in a Democratic controlled Government, so once again, here we go. Run Riot! |

Illegal immigration is a problem in this country. There is no way to stop it as long as the government allows hiring illegals. I am a second generation
American. My grandparents came through Ellis Island. My father was an American by birth, but he was made in Hungry. For years I have been against any law to
legalize any of these people; but if you kick them out ; who takes care of the 20 million legal citizens(their children) left in the country. I was against
amnesty for years but you can not stop an snowball rolling down a mountain. The laws many state and local governments have been forced to pass; should
have been pasted at the federal level. And til they( the law makers in Washington) feel that illegal aliens are a greater danger than global warming; nothing
will be done. To the native Americans; we're all illegals.

rufusgooch said; To the Native Americans; we are all illegals. I won`t pretend that I`m some kind of history major but, I could argue that people of different
nations and tribes have been displacing other so called natives since biblical times. Aborigine, A member of the indigenous or earliest known population of a
region. Tribes displace weaker tribes! Are we the weaker tribe now? We have Federal laws to give minorities preforance over other American citizens. Is that
equality? Is that what our Founding Fathers wished to create? You are a second generation American. I can trace my ancestry to 60 years after Plymouth rock.
And yet, you and I are both equally American. In my eyes it does not matter where you are from. How long ago. If your skin is of a different shade than mine.
Do you Love Our Country? I do! I hope you do also. For those who do not, I have no respect or time for. We are in a quagmire in this Country. We are torn
between helping poor immigrants trying to find a better life for themselves and the Law. Should the law be changed? Put it to a vote. Don`t allow some jerk in
Washington looking to make a one party system to make that decision. Many who cross the border illegally are nothing more than opportunists. Almost a third of
the people in our prisons are illegals. Now I come to the part that alot of people do not like when I say it. I`m not a big fan of people coming to our Country
waving other Countries flags demanding rights. If that flag is so important to them, then they should go back to that Country and fight to make that place the
Country they want. This Country should not have to change or adapt to them. There should be only one language, not press one for English. God Bless America!
OOPS! That will piss off the ACLU.
