Good Lord---Glock is finally putting a match somewhere not on a coast! (I know, I know, that is overstating the case---but it is still a nice surprise that
GSSF is going to be in Nebraska...)
Of course, they would pick a weekend when I'm going to be in a different state taking a defensive shooting class. [sigh] Maybe next time around. Okay, everyone--make sure you go! That way they'll continue to have GSSF matches here in NE. |

When glock owners get old, do they have grandfather GLOCKS?

Yep, and those damn things multiply like rabbits in the gun safe

Have any of you guys/gals shot one of these GSSF Matches in the past? Any insight? It sounds like a good way to spend most of a day. I have a little experience
in the IDPA/3-Gun side of things but haven't heard much about the GSSF.
cmzneb, I think you're right about the damn things multiplying in the gun safe. Apparently my G23 and G35 spent enough time together as the G22 should be here today. Maybe if I store the G22 next to the FAL I'll end up with a Golani Sporter... |

Will I be competitive with a G26? I 'll be there anyway, it's only 35 mins away.
I suppose other makes aren't allowed? ETA: Nope. Glocks only.

Briareos wrote: There is a ton of GSSF insight here: http://www.glocktalk.com/...ums/...umdisplay.php?f=37 The best advice I can give (but haven't been able to follow myself) is: ACCURACY BEATS SPEED in GSSF. Of course you can't be slow and accurate, but you HAVE TO BE ACCURATE to win, because penalties will sink you quickly. Check out the website of our local Glock style matches to see how the courses are run, etc.... http://rockyourglock.tripod.com |

The cool thing about the subcompact model is that you can shoot it in several divisions (same gun) and actually start improving your scores quicker because you aren't switching to and having to get used to another gun. |

Thanks for the tips, cms. 4.2gr of Titegroup under a 115gr FMJ works pretty well in my 26, I'll probably stick with that.

I'll show up with my Sig and make all of the Glocks cry.
I know, I know, Glocks only. Wouldn't want anyone to have an unfair advantage by running a Sig.
Just kidding, all in fun, of course. I have, and love Glocks too. Guess I'll have to bring the Model 22 out to play.
See you all there (I hope).
Briareos: I see you have only two posts, so I'd like to welcome you to CCWNE. You say you have
some experience with IDPA/3-Gun, maybe we could make connections at the GSSF match and you could give me some pointers.
I need all the help I can get. I'll be the guy shooting a Glock Model 22 with the Sig Sauer hat on. |

Thanks TrueSpartan, for the welcome. I'll do my best to get to the GSSF Match and look you up, it sounds like a good time. Having recently returned to the
great state of NE, it would be nice to find a couple of matches and like-minded fellow shooters. I do miss the IDPA matches every month (we would have anywhere
from 40 to 110 shooters show up and run 8 to 10 COF's) and I fear that I may be getting a little rusty. As for the pointers, I'd be happy to share with
you what I have learned thus far - I'm certain that I have much more to learn.
If you are a fan of the Sig's (who isn't?) you should try and get to some of the "Rock Your Glock" matches that cmzneb was kind enough to share in an earlier post - despite the name of the match you can run whatever you like (if I understand correctly). I'm going to try and get to a few of these as well! Thanks cmzneb for the link, I'm looking forward to attending when I can. Getting back to the GSSF Matches, I heard a rumor that they give Glock's away as prizes. I also heard that they awarded the Glocks in a "lottery" style meaning that it wasn't neccessarily the winners of the different classes that won the prizes. Anyone have good info on this? Again, this is only what I have heard in the past. If so, they are probably giving away the G37's... lol. |

Yes they give away Glock pistols to the top competitors in each division. They also do random prize drawings and give some away that way. So you could come in
dead last place and still win a gun. (At least this is how they ran the prizes back in 2007 when I last shot a GSSF match)
G37's cost extra but you can get a standard 17-19-22-23-31-32-33-26-27 |

Awesome! I may have to renew my GSSF membership now. I am a little surprised they would add one in NE since the one in Hallsville (near Columbia) Missouri was
the "midwest match". ( In my opinion. Guess they saw enough interest here!)
Did they drop another match somewhere to allow for this one, or is this an additional match? PS: this will also satisfy the "shooting competition" requirement for a rifle purchase from the CMP! |

Several GSSF matches elsewhere dropped off, which is why they are a little more open to new locations I guess. When I approached GSSF a few years back they
weren't interested in Nebraska at all. Personally I quit shooting the GSSF matches the last two years because of the high match fees and long distances to
travel. I am looking forward to doing this again.
You might want to email the CMP to ask on that "shooting competition" requirement |

cmz, I have, it was ok last time I bought a rifle from the CMP.(4-5 years ago) All they needed was a copy of the results of a shooting competition. It
didn't matter that it was handguns only. If anything, the rules haven't got any more restrictive since then.
I would also guess the CMP is seeing some "panic buying" like all gun dealers have-worried that "change" may occur with the CMP as well. |

As seen at Xavier's:
"If you can beg, borrow or...... Well.... Get a Glock, let me know. We'll get you signed up." "What if I just paint my 1911 black and get some Bondo to put on the frame to make it ugly?"
.....Clingin' to my guns over here, Boss.......
