Jay is aware of this and is working to get the issues resolved. We are planning to use the NebraskaFirepower website for the Nebraska Firearms Owners Association. Posts: 273 (10/27/08 07:24:45) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Well, the support I have gotten has been less than stellar so far on trying to restore the site. I am far, far from an expert at this kind of stuff so progress has been slow. I actually tried to uninstall-reinstall the site, but that just made things worse. Fortunately, the forum board is still intact with all of the great info that was already started there, and I saved the articles that were on the main site, so I think the next step now is to just start over with a new main page and start plugging info into it. I think we need a easy to navigate site, with the front page describing what NFOA is all about, and seperate pages full of all sorts of info, like upcoming bills, current news, events, gun shows, and informative pages like proper gun cleaning, reloading basics, nfa facts, links, etc., and of course a forum. That is basically what we originally did with Nebraska Firepower, and it was gradually turning into a really great site. I am sick that it got hacked, but from what I understand, the program we used is prone to that. So, we have sent out some inquiries to some internet gurus to see if the will help us start over. Then it is just a matter of plugging in information. We already have the forum board, and I have a great write up that jimbob86 did on gun cleaning, so are there any experts out there like would volunteer to write up an article for the new site?

I screwed it up beyond repair trying to un-hack it. So, I guess now we need to decide if we still want to use www.nebraskafirepower.com as home to the NFOA, or if we just want to start completely from scratch with just a NFOA site. The forum board is still intact, and I saved the text from most of the articles on the old site, so either we need to build a new Nebraska Firepower site and plug in the information, or we need to build a NFOA site. Nebraska Firepower was mainly geared twords new shooters and was more involved in the education of the general public than in actual political matters, so which way do we want to go, here? NFOA as a part of Nebraska Firepower, or stand alone NFOA? I am frustrated, upset, and frankly burned out right now after loosing the site I worked so hard on, but I am prepared to help out with which ever way we think we want to go. Right now, I just want to step back a little and see what everyone wants to do before I spend any more time and effort on anything.

No doubt the assault weapon known as the "Ruger 10/22″ earned its name from its ability to kill twenty-two people for every ten shots fired.

Either of those sound good to me. Is there a difference of what content can be on a ".org" versus a ".com" website? I looks like nebraskafoa.com and .org may available as well, might keep us for being confused with "New England". Do we have any "internet guru's" in the midst that could help? For little to no money. I'm no web guru, AT ALL. I have a site that costs me $9 a month for the domain name and a dummy proof system to build a website. Of course I'm sure some of you computer minded folks out there can do a much better job than me. As for a name, something easy to remember. nebraskafirearms.org Not to long, and easy to remember. Remembering partials of the name nefoa, or nebraskafoa might be more difficult. NEfirearms is confusing with New England Firearms H&R www.neccwtraining.com www.neccw.blogspot.com

I like it as well, however, (and I hate to say it) it may be in our best interest to have a bit of a "tamer" name for the website. I think it will be fairly easy to attract gun owners of similar interests to ours, however, it may be easier to attract some of the more squeamish "all I need is my .38 and pappy's shotgun" style of gun owners without all of the ~scary~ "firepower" stuff. He has requested some sample content, an idea of how we want it to look (links to any sites that we would like to emmuate) and any artwork, banners, logos, etc. I have a pretty good vision in my head of how I think the site should be set up, so I'll search around for something similar and also write up a summary of what I am thinking. Any of you all with ideas should do the same, then we can put everything together and pick out the best of everyone's thoughts. In the meantime, we know for sure we are going to need content for the site, so we could be working on that right now. We need a good write up on what NFOA is all about, a contact information page, etc., and I would really like to see pages full of information on various subjects such as reloading basics, what concealed carry is all about for those looking to get a permit, how and why we should all get involved, what shooting sports are out there, what NFA is all about, etc. If anyone is an expert on any of this, please volunteer to write up some good information that we could use. If you guys want, our forum board is still working, and there is some great information on it. We could use that for the site if you want. If you want to just start over with a new one that is fine, too. If you want to use the forums we already have started, let me know and I can begin working on cleaning the board up, getting rid of the Nebraska Firepower specific threads, and honing it in for NFOA. If you would rather just start with something fresh, that is fine, too. Any forum board is basically just going to be a direct link that you are sent to when you click on the forum option from the NFOA main menu, so we can do whatever you want there. It was already laid out to accommodate firearms owners of all disciplines and has a lot of good information and posts that should be saved. Guys, I don't know what to say; I am ecstatic that this is finally getting off the ground. If someone can contact the Second Amendment Foundation with solid plans they can help with some of the financial/material aspects of what you want to accomplish. I just think it sends the right message (strength) and is easy to remember. Plus, I already have a cheap, kinda cool logo and some cheap t-shirts and business cards made up. We already own www.nebraskafirepower.com and all we would have to do is delete the current site and install the new one. I know not everyone likes the name, so maybe this should be our first official vote. I don't really care too much one way or the other, but we need to get this finalized before we go much further. How about if we come up with a list of possible names and take a vote?

If we are going to push the brand NFOA hard, it would be confusing to have something like nefoa and the such, in my opinion. If we can't just get nfoa .com or .org or .whatever, then I would rather see either nebraskafirearms.org or even something like supportnfoa.com Are web addresses case sensative? Could we do something like print www.supportNFOA.com or whatever os that the name stands out and is remembered without having to actually type in all caps? Just a thought.

I agree that we should not scare anyone away, but let's not dilute our message down to the lowest common denominator. Every one may have a very different notion of just what "firepower" can be, but in the sense that this site will be both a political lobby group and an educational tool, I think that we need a name that exudes strength and power while not even using the word "gun". Some might feel that pappy's shotgun makes them a formidable foe, while I might feel that 3 AR15's is just a good start. But I want the name of this site to project a message to the Legislator's we need to convince. We are powerful and you will feel the heat when we look your way. Last, the group that Gunscribe once ran was called the" Nebraska Gun owners" and it has been shut down , and I really don't want to be confused with that group LJUnaTIC
