LB 958 has an E&R amendment, and has officially been placed on Select file |

Meaning the Enrollment and Review committee has changed some language to "clean things up". I haven't really studied it yet.

I posted this on Joe's Crabby Shack also, I emailed the NRA this afternoon and voiced my displeasure at their "neutral" stand on LB958, I believe
this stand by the NRA is just as good as a for vote for this bill, you can bet that Ashford is crowing about how he backed the NRA down. If this is the kind
of support that we get from Mr. Austin, then either the NRA needs to replacethis person or we are better off fighting our battles without their input or
lobbying. This just gave the anti's a little more traction, and if this bill passes in its current form then I believe that Nebraska Gun owners are if for
a long hard road.

Yeah, Joe, but is the line as hot as the coffee? We're talking here about a hotline. Dedicated and operated 24/7. Hope the operator doesn't go to
sleep.

I just got this email from Christensen a few minutes ago (regarding the delete provision in 958):
I have visited with the NRA and they confirmed that you can sell privately and transfer without a permit or dealer license with this permit removed.

Sen. Christensen seems to be missing the point....
I never thought I'd say this, but I wish lawmakers would stop blindly following the NRA. |

I agree, but I think this line is what the NRA is selling to cover their position on 958.

lindh,
I received a rather long reply from Senator Tony Fulton to my e-mail to the 6 senators who voted for LB958 after stating they would vote against the bill.(Joe's Crabby Shack). Senator Fulton had two questions that I answered. I had stressed NICS difficulties in reference to auctions and gun shows vs. the reliability of the Nebraska Firearms Purchase Permit. |
