This may be a dumb question, but how do you score 70% on an FBI Q target? If you're inside the body, it's a hit? You have to land 70% of your shots within the Q sillouhette?

70% of your shots have to hit the target.
I know it is pathetic, but it is the same exact course that Nebraska Law Enforcement officers have to qualify on. The sad thing is that it takes some multiple trys to pass. |

Ive shot the course several times. It is not hard, if you have any competency with firearms you will not have a problem. Ive got a copy of it, when I find it I will post it.

Well, that's kinda what I was thinking.
I think I could hit a Q target 70% of the time from 7 yards with my granny's old Titan .25 ACP and my eyes closed. |

Hey, it could be worse. I remember hearing speculation a while back that they could come up with something like "make everybody drive to the NSP training facility in Grand Island and pay $500 or more for training, then shoot the equivalent of a Master score IDPA classifier to qualify."
At least it looks like they're going to certify local instructors once they come up with a curriculum. |

There is a pretty hefty insurance requirement for Instructors, plus 16 hours for the course. I'm going to speculate and guesstimate a little here but I'd bet that the class will cost an individual at least a couple hundred $$$

hopefully some of the instructors will offer some group courses... I know my whole family is interested in contracting someone to do a private class for all of us.

So, as the Jan. 1 deadline approaches, does anyone have a listing for some instructors and/or places where classes will be offered?

Go to the aforementioned link. At the bottom of the page, it lists the three approved instructors, so far.

Link is up to 5 approved instructors now, with the latest in Lincoln.
I see the Omaha Class is 12hrs, the one I am taking in columbus is 8, the other instructors do not have websites and class descriptions online. |
