only problem with that is they lease from Seldin and they still have all the signs up for the entire property.
I suspect they took the sign down because they were already covered by the properties sign. |

How legit are these signs covering an entire shopping center and their parking lots?

As legit as you can afford them to be...in Omaha the police would enforce them and leave it for you to fight out in the courts, wher even if you would win they will bleed you dry. There was a person open carrying in Omaha whom was tackled and arrested own his own front lawn, causing physical injury. Omaha drug the whole matter out until he settled and they dropped the charges because they did not want anyone contesting their open carry permit law.

One thing you have to remember is that companies like Seldin, they own the entire property. So the policies they enact, likely have to be followed by individual businesses there.
Either way, the only reason these signs are up is due to insurance reasons. Every single place I've talked to always mentions how the insurance companies and lawyers want them up. |

I'm pretty sure you are fine if it's left in your locked vehicle out of view. My understanding is that just like at NFM where you can't carry
inside they can't say anything about a parking lot. I think they just post it that way so they don't need signs on every business.
EDIT: Had time to take a quick look for the information. From the NSP web site "ยงIf my business wants to prohibit concealed handguns, do signs have to be placed on the parking lots as well as the buildings? Your business should post signs at all public entrances to your building. Permit holders who visit your business do not violate the law by leaving their concealed weapon in their vehicle while visiting your business even if you post your parking lot."

Whether it's legal to keep your protection locked in your car in the parking lot or not, such signs are an assurance of safety to the criminals. The signs
tell any would be lawbreakers that any intended victim(s) have no self defense either inside the store or anywhere in that huge, crowded parking lot. By
posting the signs, the business is indicating that your well being and safety is insignificant to them compared to their political view of guns.
A business which so pointedly indicates its disregard for you and your safety does not deserve you patronage. This is especially true in the Age of the Internet when there is almost no product which cannot be obtained online, thereby bypassing the local monopoly many of these businesses once held. I've seen that arrogance displayed in other places as well--high price along with the insulting "NO CCW" signs. And it is insulting. Anyone legally carrying is certified as being among the most responsible, law-abiding, and trained of societies member and anyone illegally carrying is not going to pay any attention to any silly sign. Given all of that, mail the management a "NO GUNS = NO $$$" card and take your business to a merchant who respects you. |

Good points brolin1911a1. I wasn't trying to condone shopping there just because it's OK to lock your gun in your vehicle. I just wanted to make
people aware of the correct law. If you find you have to be in that shopping center, you are fine with it in your car.
