I've been through kearney a few times since they started talking about keeping their ban. I haven't spent a penny there. In fact, they aren't even good enough to get my piss in that city!

I go to college in Kearney (UNK) and I hope to one day work for the city manager and I would really like to see a lot of changes take place in town. The no smoking ban is a good start but I want them to focus more on 2A rights

Why would a nice girl like you want to get involved in politics?
Seriously though, good for you for wanting to make a change, and welcome to the board! |

well welcome to the forum NRA_Girl. hopefully you can make a difference in that town. I sure hope so because when I move back to North Platte, Kearney is the closest place for me to shop at Old Navy! And I won't shop in Kearney with the CCW ban.
Hopefully you and your fiance will stop in here once in a while. We need more members. |

I live in the country south of kearney, but i work there and sometimes go to holdrege and hastings which all bans CCW so I am going to open carry everywhere even in minden which does not have a ban on CCW. And if they post no weapon signs just will not spend my money there.

Funny thing is, those no weapons signs (by statute) only apply to individuals who have a Concealed Handgun permit. Open carrying somewhere that is posted is not against the law. (Although I refuse to do business with places that post).
If you open carry somewhere that is posted and they asked you to leave, (and didn't leave) I'm sure there would be a disturbing the peace or some other bogus charge thrown out there. www.neccwtraining.com

Well I am going to Kearney tomorrow to watch some races and for cruise night.
Trying to decide if I will open carry... I am very nervous about doing so. Only problem for me is I won't be able to leave the firearm in the car as I will be on a bike. So if I get asked to leave someplace, I am gone for good. I wish i could just conceal it and there would be NO problems. I will not drop a dime of money in the city other than the 5$ to get in to Kearney race park... its so stupid that I can't just go about my normal activities since some people think I'm "dangerous" or something, when my gun is under my shirt instead of out in plain sight for anybody to see.
No doubt the assault weapon known as the "Ruger 10/22″ earned its name from its ability to kill
twenty-two people for every ten shots fired.
