I'm wondering if we could work up a list of clubs/ranges that hold "combat" type pistol shoots in Nebraska. (IDPA/IPSC). Not that these shoots would have to conform to any formal organization's rules n' regs but along those lines.
Steel/paper whatever... a list of clubs would be great and this is the place to do it IMHO. TIA! |

At the last IDPA classifier I went to in July I was told that someone is lobbying ENGC to have IDPA matches next summer.

I was considering setting up IDPA matches for 2008 at ENGC, however I have decided against it. I really enjoyed shooting the IDPA classifier, and would like to get involved more in IDPA however a couple of things swayed me away from pursuing it any further.
I attempted to make contact with the IDPA national office to pursue setting up matches here and I was turned off by their lack of a timely response and what appeared to be an overall general lack of organization. Call me selfish, but also I don't feel like busting my ass organizing more shooting matches that are going to cost me a bunch more money to participate in. www.neccwtraining.com

The dates for the Submachine gun matches have not been set yet. Sometimes you gotta drive a bit to do what you want.
Heres the 2008 schedule with a few edits Match dates for 2008. April 19, Intro to USPSA April 20 May 4 May 18, Super Classifier, five classifier stages June 1 June 15 July 6 July 13, Great Plain Sectional match at Big Sioux Rifle and Pistol Range July 20 Aug 3 Aug 17 Sept 7 Make up days, June 29, Aug 31 I had mostly positive responses regarding our club holding a sectional match at Big Siouxs range. As stated in an earlier e-mail, the Omaha club which usually holds the sectional match is instead holding the Area match. At the breakfast discussion, eight club shooters discussed the match. An additional five shooter responded to the e-mail supporting the match. Big Sioux has approved our use of the entire range during the weekend of July 13. From the breakfast discussion: Eight stages, designed by Sherwyn and Nick, if other shooters have suggestions on stages, please contact Sherwyn. Scoring, the Omaha club will be asked to provide scoring through their palm pilots, Sherwyn to contact the Omaha club. Inventory of club targets and props, Fred to provide to Sherwyn and Nick. Bay sizes, Fred to provide to Sherwyn and Nick. Plaques will be award for winners, Sherwyn to contact vendor for pricing. Sectional, Area approval, Sherwyn to contact our representatives. Registration form, Fred to create and e-mail out to shooters. Date published in USPSA calendar, Sherwyn to contact Registration fee, to be determined T-shirts, shooters add on cost above registration fee, Rick to contact vendor for design and pricing. Meal, open for discussion, could provide by club, cost part of the registration fee. Extra bathroom facility, Chris to contact vendor. Plastic cover for targets, Chris to contact vendor. Vendor for water and pop, Fred to contact boy scout troop. Set up on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, 7/11, 7/12. Set-up crews and ROs shoot the course Saturday afternoon. Based on previous sectional matches in Omaha we expect 50-60 shooters but will limit entry to 100 shooters max. As stated in a previous e-mail, a sectional match is restricted to USPSA members only. So club shooters who arent members please consider signing up with USPSA. The super classifier in May will ensure you have a classification before the sectional match. Also regarding the range, Big Sioux has approved money to add drainage for our bays that gets flooded. Hopefully this will be completed this spring weather permitting. More updates to come. Fred. |

Heartland shooting park in Grand Island is already shooting SASS cowboy action, since the club is already used to running and gunning and drawing from holsters
with cowboy all it would take to get IPSC or IDPA going is for someone to run it.

I've been aware of the Bullet Hole's IPSC and IDPA stuff going on. This summer's plans include attending somewhat formal tactical pistol classes in
Lincoln, Omaha, Columbus, and Denver, CO. My wife and I might even take some vacation and visit Front Sight. I am not a member of USPSA or IPSC but I have
interest in both. I've done my research, I just need to get the ball rolling. It sounds like there is a ton of good friends out there we haven't met
yet. I live in Lincoln. The Bullet Hole (never been there...) looks to be a mere 46 miles from home. I think I'll make a run up there some Tuesday evening
and see what's going on.

Why don't you Lincoln area handgunners overthrow the Shotgun fudds at the IKEs, when they say no holsters and only 10rnd loads, just ignore them.

Well, I dont know if you will consider Cowboy Action Shooting as a combat match, but Grand Island actually has 2 clubs. One at the Grand Island Rifle club, and
the one I am a member of, at Heartland Public Shooting Park.
HPSP meets the 1st sunday of the month, and the one at GIRC meets the 3rd sunday. We have our big Nebraska State SASS match June 4-7 at Heartland, if any of you want to come down and see what its about. DM
