I know that guy is obviously crazy, but consider this:
Now because of the VA Tech murders, it seems "they" will now evaluate your "mental health" record more closely in determining if you can buy a gun.
This is VERY dangerous to the 2nd amendment. Any one of us can be ordered to take a mental health evaluation at any time. You could get divorced and your X can (and most will) make accusations to keep your kids from you, the way out is a mental health evaluation. You can be accused of a crime such as rape or assault, and once again an evaluation may be ordered. These are ordered at whim despite and separate from any, if any at all, guilt.
When you get one of these, they nearly always find "something". They start using fancy physcatrists words such as "axis". A NSP or other agent evaluating your application, is going to red flag you and without any courts, laywers, and you are instantly treated like a criminal, and denied your rights, the same as one.
If your family dies in a car crash, they can take you into protective custody and allege you may be a harm to yourself. Should this temporarly time at your lowest point be used to judge your entire life? If they take you into custody, they MUST assert you are a danger to yourself (AKA adjudicated as a mental defective). I know if my family died, I wouldn' be thinking exactly straight. While some will argue they can/have, I think it is understandable that some people may have bad thoughts in such a dire time. It is not represenative of thier life nor way of thinking.
"They" will use this to deny us our rights and in my opinion, these "mental health" records need to dissapear from everyone's file.
At any time any of use can feel the need to end our lives because some extreme situation has occured that has us thinking outside or normal ways. It is temporary, and yet in terms of a record, it is viewed no different than this crazy guy, and it will look almost identical to the average person viewing the records side by side.
If such a situation occurs and you had "thoughts" (not attempted, there is a difference), what the heck does that have to do with denying you a gun in the future?
From experience, there is no difference in these records between a temporary situation that occured, and someone who is friggin nuts. I think there needs to be some more legislation on this....
You're all "mentally defective", therefore, none of you can have guns.
Sincerely,
Mr. Government
