They are fun and I like them.

"Are we at last brought to such
humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and
under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of them under the management of Congress? If our
defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own
hands?"

We purchased ours last summer before things went south. We bought them because we could and we were not certain that we would have the ability once W left
office. We are responsible for our own safety - an AR makes it a little easier to take care of things at home when SHTF. Beside the fact that they are a blast
to shoot.

Will someone please give me an accurate and true definition of "assault weapon". If I beat one of you with a baseball bat (which I would never do),
that bat then by definition would defined as an assault weapon. In my opinion, you respondants above own rifles that are capable of automatic and/or
semi-automatic fire. Yes, I am preaching to choir, but I remain true to the actual meaning/definitions of words. It would be similiar to saying someone is
ignorant (lack of knowledge) of the definition of "assault weapon". This would be different than saying one is stupid (idiotic, numbskull,
boneheaded) for defining an AR platform rifle as an assault weapon.

Read this: Might explain what the ATF considers "assault weapon"
http://www.atf.gov/firearms/saw-faqs.htm The term "assault weapon" is also used in USC here: http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/ts_search.pl?title=18&sec=922 I know this went out of effect in 2004 but that is likely where the term came from, and why it has stuck around so much. N0ZXR

"So why would you buy an 'assault weapon?'"
This quote says it all for me........ Agent Smith: Why, Mr. Anderson? Why do you do it? Why get up? Why keep fighting?.........Why, Mr. Anderson? Why? Why do you persist? Neo: Because I choose to.....

Yes ask me about one of these!

Been awhile since I posted so I thought I'd reply to Dan's post.
This is my Single shot bolt action 50 BMG in action. The "upper" is manufactured by Bohica Arms and the bottom end is a standard DPMS AR lower. I used an Ace ARFX butt stock (soon to be replaced by Mag-Pul's PRS). The optic is the Barska 6-24 x 60mm SWAT with the 5" sun shade in place. At the present time it weighs about 32 pounds. Recoil is about the same as a 3 1/2" 12 gauge with steel shot loads.
The only dumb question is the one you don't ask!

Because I can.
I like all types of guns. I prefer handguns but rifles are nice too. Buy the way you can't really go out and buy an assault rifle. You can buy a semi auto look alike. Or if you're really into it you can do the Fed paperwork and pay your $200 tax and buy the real thing at least in some states. You should be able to buy them but the gov-ment has violated our 2nd amendment rights for so many years and gotten away with it people now seem to think they can regulate firearms. Obviously the are regulating them now, although in my opinion all the laws are a violation of our rights. |

I purchased one for one reason, and one reason only. I am an American Citizen who values his liberty and believes in the Constitution that governs this
country. If necessary, I will kill anyone who chooses to take my liberty, or who tries to destroy this great country of mine, either enemies from without, or
traitors from within. As a free citizen of this country, I have the DUTY and OBLIGATION to defend it and what it stands for when called upon to do so. As part
of the unorganized militia, I need to have a weapon that is effective for the purposes above. THAT is why I own one, and that is why I believe that anyone who
does not is not worthy of the title "citizen".

I bought(built) my first AR15 after 9/11 because I felt that I needed a "Homeland Defense Rifle". I bought my second(a MAK90) because it was nearly
"new in the box" and I'd always wanted an AK. I bought the 3rd one because it was a smoke'n deal that I could not pass up.
I can't keep track of the rest of them(about 7 or 8 more?) after that. I have 3 kids that may not be able to purchase this type of weapon in the future, they'll need to protect the homeland, themselves, and their families as well.

Pretty strong wording Punch...I do not believe that you have to own an "assault weapon" to be considered a Citizen.

why do we need alcohol ?
what purpose does it serve? far more people, especially children, are killed by drunks than by guns. im not against alcohol , but just a point. the rich sheltered mommas boys and girls think banning you guns will make them. meanwhile they drink it up and hit the roads. its all about perception and facts are ignored |

What is an Assault Weapon?
|
When the director of the ATF himself cannot define an assault weapon who can here?
A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who
might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.
