As I was looking at the threads in the no guns - no money section about the No Frills Supermarkets in Omaha - I see that they have responded to individual members stating that they respect our right to carry concealed and ask that we respect their right as a privately owned business to prohibit weapons in their stores. I am creating this thread as I don't think this discussion should take place on the other thread as it is designed to simply identify business who don't support CCW. So... I am ok with their response, it's their business and I think they should be able to run it as they see fit. I simply choose to support other businesses -seems pretty simple. My question lies with some of our members comments about continuing to send the business letters/requests to allow CCW - how far do we try to convince a business owner to change their belief vs. taking your business elsewhere? At some point is there a line that gets crossed? Interested in your thoughts.

We have made great headway with places that didnt allow it and now do because of letters people wrote. I f we all write one letter each and they still decide not to allow ccw there so be it I simply take my business to another place but we will never know what happens if we dont try right? Just think if only two people write a letter to a store vs 300 just sitting there not sending a letter what is the store going to do most likely say ah two letters we wont lose money now take 300 people that write a letter will the store look at it more closely sure because thats alot of money they could lose however even if they say no we still tried. Taking the sit back and do nothing side doesnt help our cause at all but that just my thought! Now if people start holding signs in front of the store I think thats crossing the line. If guns cause crime mine must be defective!!!!

Unfortunately this chain will likely never change their ways. We've been after them for almost 2 years now. I think this is the best approach - Give Tammy's email address to EVERYONE you know regardless of their CHP status and BEG them send an email. Not an email ASKING them to change but one simply stating that they do not agree with No Frills policy and that they will be shopping at Bag and Save who HAS taken their signage down and that they will no longer do business with No Frills. It doesn't have to be a nasty letter at all, just factual. One or two emails here and there are meaningless to them. Several hundred, or better yet several THOUSAND should open some eyes. Letting No Frills know specifically that they will be shopping at Bag and Save, their most direct competition, is huge. Better yet, here is Fred Witecy's email address. He is the CEO. fwitecy@nofrillssupermarkets.com Also would be nice if you could post Tammy's email addy rather than have them use that ugly contact form on their website. And if it doesn't work, then write them off. They don't have that nice of stores, their prices aren't that great and they obviously don't want our business. In the end though, I appreciate the recognition that we will win some and lose some vs. continuing to spend resources. In the cases that we push and don't see results, move on. When something changes (like a new CEO), try again. Appreciate the conversation.

He said businesses posting signs stating, "We do not permit firearms" would logically be more desirable targets. The Arizona State Rifle and Pistol Association (ASRPA), which turned 100 this year, is allowing business owners to advertise their eating establishments on its website (www.asrpa.com) without charge, to show its appreciation for those businesses that roll out their welcome mats for Arizona's 140,799 CCW holders. The new law that went into effect Sept. 30 now allows CCW holders to enter establishments that serve alcohol. Although they may not consume alcohol while carrying a concealed weapon, they may take advantage of other menu items and offerings. ASRPA says roughly 3 percent of Arizona's population is licensed to carry a concealed firearm for their personal protection, and businesses letting them know where they're welcome "will create a wonderful opportunity for many of the great cafés and eating establishments in Arizona. Even though businesses will never detect these new customers, ASRPA states, "We hope your gross receipts will indicate the fact they indeed visited you and happily spent their dollars with YOU." The law requires businesses that do not allow CCWs in their eating establishments to post a sign to that effect next to their liquor license.
