I obtained my NE CCW permit almost two years ago, and just recently moved to TX. I called the NE state patrol to see what I have to do in order to file my change of address, as required by law, and the woman there said they would revoke my license since I moved out of state. I asked which statute authorizes them to do that and she couldn't cite one, but referred me to the lincoln office.
The way I read it, there is no authority to revoke my permit based on the fact that I moved out of state. The statute states that in order to obtain/maintain a permit you must "Have been a resident of this state for at least one hundred eighty days". Nowhere does it say "The LAST 180 days". I "have been" a resident of the state of Nebraska for over 20 years.
The crappy part is, I can't get my TX CCW permit until I've lived HERE for 180 days, so that leaves me with 5 months of no-carry if NE revokes my permit. How am I going to feel safe walking into Wal-mart? :)
So, anyone want to chime in on this one?
